Class 10 Science Practical syllabus for CBSE Science is important for you if you want to achieve full marks in the subject. You must know that the theory paper of Class 10 Science is of 80 marks and 20 marks are assigned to internal assessments. The Science practicals are a part of the internal assessment. But, their importance does not end here. The practical syllabus is important in Class 10 as it helps you understand Science topics in a better way. For example, you might have studied the concept of pH in Class 10 Science theory. In the practical class, you can experiment to find the pH of various solutions like hydrochloric acid, lemon juice, water et cetera.

When you perform experiments, you study how a process takes place. This helps you understand the concepts clearly and you can memorise the concepts for a long time. Along with this, you are expected to record your observations and find inferences. This practice prepares you for higher education in Science as in higher classes you will be required to perform complex experiments in the lab. Now, you can download the CBSE Class 10 Science practical syllabus easily from the askIITians website. We have added the updated list of experiments in the syllabus as per CBSE guidelines for 2021-22. We have also provided a detailed marking scheme and some quick tips on how you can score better marks in Class 10 Science by enhancing your practical knowledge.

CBSE Class 10 Science Practical Syllabus 2021-22 Topics

According to the CBSE Class 10 Science syllabus, there are 5 units namely Chemical Substances - Nature and Behaviour, World of Living, Natural Phenomenon, Effects of Current and Natural Resources. CBSE has provided a list of experiments based on these units in the practical syllabus. You need to perform these experiments, record your observations and log them into your practical file or lab manual. You also need to write the complete procedure of experiments in the file and create diagrams if required for your better understanding. Here are some of the experiments that you will be performing in Class 10 Science:

  • Observing how metals react with salt solutions
  • Classifying reactions into the combination, decomposition, displacement and double displacement
  • Studying how potential difference is dependent on current across a resistor
  • Preparing a temporary mount of a leaf peel to observe stomata
  • Using prepared slides to study binary fission in amoeba and budding in yeast and hydra
  • Determining the focal length of a concave mirror and convex lens
  • Tracing how light passes through a glass prism

CBSE Class 10 Science Practical Examination Marking Scheme

  2. Some basic principles or theory about the experiment
  3. The material that is required to perform the experiment
  4. The steps to be followed to perform the experiment
  5. The observations that you have logged while performing the experiment
